Tekken 7 Developer Q&A Video: Character Development

Make sure you put the subtitles on when you watch the video this time. Tekken 7 Developer Q&A video #2 is up and this one has Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murray discuss what goes into Tekken 7's character development. They go over the several factors that contribute to creating new fighters such as what goals they plan to achieve with the character, what kind of character they should be whether it is a newbie friendly or complex character and the compatibility of the fighting style within the game. An interesting thought piece if you were curious on what were some of the brainstorming that went into designing some of your favorite characters. You can check out the Developer Q&A video below.

Tekken 7 Developer Q&A Video: Tournament Mode

Tekken Project leads Katsuhiro Harada & Michael Murray discuss Tekken 7's Online Tournament Mode in a new Developer Q&A video. They both discuss the new mode and what it means for players online; particularly the not so hardcore Tekken fans that grind Ranked Mode or have gone out to enter the tournaments. This new mode will hopefully give newcomers a small dip into the competitive Tekken scene in a tournament format. This Q&A video is part of a small ongoing Q&A video series so be on the look out for more in the future. Video courtesy of Bandai Namco Europe.

'High Chance' Cross-Platform Play may not be in Tekken 7 at Console Launch Says Harada

Update/Note: just to further clarify on the cheaters part since there are some people out there that are sending nasty tweets to Harada for the idea that PC players are all cheaters/hackers, he expressed in the tweet that there are many gamers out there that are one part of the overall community that do suspect PC players of cheating. Not necessarily himself that he thinks that all PC players are cheaters. He himself after all, is a big PC gamer.

---

It's not a matter of the technology for getting the PS4/XB1/PC players to match up against each other being the issue, but rather first party company policies and potential security risks alongside the community perceived reputation of PC gamers being cheaters that is hindering the decision to allow cross platform play as explained by Tekken project leader Katsuhiro Harada on Twitter to a fan question.

That is not to say that cross platform play for the game has been outright denied however, merely that these hurdles are hampering the decisions to allow it. The specific usage of the home versions 'launch' in the explanation brings up an interesting consideration also by suggesting that all the drawbacks of allowing cross platform play can be avoided temporarily early in the game's lifespan and then later enabled to help the overall player base when the game has its 'drop off' of players. With that all said, there is a large possibility that cross-platform play for Tekken 7 will not be allowed when it launches in Early 2017 Harada says. If you yourself are passionate about the feature and its implementation in Tekken 7, why not let Harada know? He reads all the feedback he receives on Twitter.

Harada & Murray Stream Q&A Session During Evo Day 1

EVO 2016 is well underway with Tekken 7 finals starting in a hour from now but during the Tekken stream for Day 1, Michael Murray and Katsuhiro Harada were both briefly on commentary and answering questions from the stream chat. It wasn't too long of a session though but there's multiple points of interest in regards to Tekken 7 that you may have missed if you didn't happen to catch it live. The session begins at around the 2 hour, 40 minute and 30 second mark of this Twitch archive but I have written most of the topics from the session down below if you want to just read it.

Tekken 7 & SoulCalibur 20th Anniversary at San Diego Comic-Con

While EVO 2016 is almost upon us this week, San Diego Comic-Con will be a few days after featuring a return of the Bandai Namco Fighting Games panel. Tekken's Katsuhiro Harada and Michael Murray are once again expected to be in attendance with Markman acting as panel moderator for the session this year. "Special Guests" is teased for the panel meaning we may also see someone new on the panel alongside Harada and Murray (jbstyle was on last year's SD-CC.) As mentioned on the schedule, you can expect new updates on Tekken 7 as well as upcoming TEKKEN merchandise during SD-CC 2016. A surprising addition to this session is a special discussion on the 20th anniversary of SoulCalibur games. It's been awhile since we've heard from the series and this may finally signal something new incoming after all the previous 'Long Live SOULCALIBUR' teasing. Who knows what that might entail but the panel will not be one to miss for those who can make it out and attend. Bandai Namco's Fighting Games Panel 2016 is taking place in San Diego Comic-Con on July 22nd (Friday) at 1:00 PM
