EVO 2014 | World's Largest Fighting Game Tournament Held in Las Vegas

UPDATE: TTT2 tournament has concluded and the results and archives of it has been added!

All roads lead to EVO. Evolution 2014 will be commencing over the course of this weekend and thanks to the efforts of MarkMan and Bandai Namco Games, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is being included into the event and will have an added $5,000 pot bonus to the prize. The TTT2 tournament at Evo is scheduled for the entirety of Friday this week but there will be a lot more to come in terms of Tekken action with the Tekken Casino. Among that, there's also side tournaments for Soul Calibur 2 HDO and Soul Calibur 5 happening on the Mad Catz stream and will surely be great to watch. High Stakes TEKKEN Weekend SUMMER 2014 ATLANTA

ATL Gamer Society originally announced this tournament with a $2,500 guaranteed pot payout at EVO weekend on account of the news of Tekken not being included into this year's EVO tournament. Since then, EVO has later added TTT2 back into EVO leaving the dates of these two tournaments clashing for players interested in traveling to either of these tournaments. The ATL Gamer Society website now offers new details on the tournament saying that the tournament has been pushed back to the weekend after (July 18-19, 2014) to ease concerns of date clashing. Among that, $2,500 pot payout is still guaranteed and players like Lil Majin, Anakin, Kor, Inkognito and more are confirmed to be participating in the tournament. SCLS - Viewer Vote For Next Character

For those who didn't watch the '876 Minute' broadcast by Bandai Namco on niconico that I detailed earlier, you didn't really miss much. Soul Calibur's current lead producer Masaaki Hoshino gets on the broadcast at around the 10 hour mark and talks about his games and play a couple round of Soul Calibur 2 HD with the broadcast hosts. The most notable thing of course was holding a poll during the niconico stream that viewers can vote for which characters they would like to see in Soul Calibur Lost Swords. The vote had the options of 4 characters - Amy, Cassandra, Seong Mina and Rock. In the short period that the poll was open, viewers went with Amy to win the poll with 39.7% of the votes. I wouldn't worry too much if the character you wanted to see added to that game wasn't voted for, all these characters were up for consideration and may show up in the title eventually.

Yuu & Nobi's New Twitch.TV Channel

Good news for those who love to watch Tekken streams, famed Japanese players Yuu and Nobi have set up a new Twitch.tv channel. Although I don't know if they'll be fully using it, on niconico they stream semiweekly Namco Sugamo 'Ranking Battles' on Wednesday and Saturday evenings in which the regulars at the arcade play in a small single elim tournament in various formats with commentary from Nobi and several other participants. They also stream console games and various special events from time to time so hopefully they do decide to move to Twitch. You can receive notifications on when the channel goes live by following the channel or by following Yuu's twitter.

1st Annual "Filthy Cup" Tournament in Copabanana, Philadelphia

While it was a big weekend for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 due to the Global Championships taking place, there's also the Filthy Cup occuring in Philadelphia today. The Filthy Cup is a 3D Fighting Game exclusive tournament that will celebrate the Tekken series in honor of the work FilthieRich did for the community. The event will be broadcasted over on Bifuteki's twitch channel at around 6PM EST so be sure to tune in!
