Third Strike God Kuroda Playing Urien

As I've said in the past, I'm a huge Third Strike fan. I highly recommend everyone check out this sick ass video of Japan's 3S legend Kuroda playing Urien. Just as a bit of back story, when Japan's second best player was in SoCal, he told me that Kuroda is so much better than anyone else who has ever played the game that he can easily beat any player on the planet using any character in the game.

Kuroda is just unbelivable, a true legend. He must do nothing else but play 3s non-stop. And I congratulate him for it.

How does he do Urien's charge back, forward+kick so fast, basically instantly?

@Forest

I believe it's the magic of charge partitioning that allows him do those nearly instant charge moves.. I myself don't really understand completely how it works but I know that it is probably essential for Urien players to know how do it to play at a high level. The charge partitioning is what allows them to setup unblockables with the Aegis Reflector.

Really don't understand the love for what is a really broken game....hhmmm. Just like nearly all capcom games...

Think about.

MVC 2 & 3
SF4 AE (Super is a bit more balanced)
3rd Strike.

Whats the point of playing if you can't win with anyone??? Just seems futile and pointless.

Flame all you want, everyone is allowed an opinion.

Your oppinion is still pretty stupid though.

@ 4:27 and @ 5:47 was some SNK boss mode stuff. Too crazy!

@Forest: He is doing alot of charge partitioning. He is holding back during the moves and storing charges along with the twitch ducking is allowing him to charge. Its hard to do though. (i.e. I suck at it!) This is a Remy Tutorial that talks a bit about charge partitioning. Its a bit old though but the information is good. Urien does the same thing masked by his normal and within his twitch ducks which also cover parry, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uf-1ofJQgM

@Punkmafia: I can't really call 3s broke considering most everyone has a chance to win. There are a couple of bad matchups in general (i.e. the top characters win alot) but eh this is after over 10 yrs of play and research have went into them. And even now we have people who can beast with even the low tier and finding new setups. People know the matchups and there is alot of meta game that is used in 3s now of days. You just have to be able to understand it. If you do you may see these games in a different light.

I do appreciate that it has die hard fans. I really do. An everyone will go and buy AE soon. I just don't understand why as a company as a whole they do things like Sentinal (I understand the patch really is not that useful) and Yun Yang (I think that is all you will see at grand finals in all tournaments).
Just makes me chuckle when you think of how previous games back in the day like Tekken 3 were so balanced, your own skill mattered. Not who you played as.
If you don't agree with me thats fine, I am not everyones cup of tea, and nor do I want to be. Its called having an opinion.

I think you're the first person to call Tekken 3 balanced. We're talking about the game with Ogre and Jin in it.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 9:20 AM | Unregistered Commenterloldongs

Tekken 3 is not even near balance. 5 or 6 top tier characters makes others almost obsolete.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:08 AM | Unregistered CommenterWatafag

I am not the only one who thinks Tekken 3 is balanced. I think you lot are thinking of Tekken Tag 1. Jin and Ogre were just silly in that lol...

tekken 3 balanced? no where near as balanced as tekken 4.

Magical denjin parries. Blink once and you miss the fact that Kuroda low parries the cr. forward and continues to parry the rest of the super.

@ Jake the Snake.
Hope you are joking???? Jin??? Remember???

@GaryOak99
You will always have tier lists, but it doesnt stop the game being balanced. Not exactly 3rdStrike Chun or Urien now is it??

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterPuNkMaFiA

That kid's either tripping off acid, or never played T3 in any serious level. I'm guessing the last.

Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:02 PM | Unregistered Commenterloldongs

Drugs are bad so no acid lol. However is this the true standings for evo 2008 for 3rd strike:
Street Fighter III: Third Strike

1st - Nuki (Chun Li)

2nd - Justin Wong (Chun Li)

3rd - Amir (Chun Li)

4th - Tokido (Chun Li, Urien)

5th - Ryan Harvey (Chun Li)

5th - J.R. Rodriguez (Akuma)

7th - Mike Watson (Ken)

7th - Ryan Hart (Ken, Yun)

I am not beeing funny. But thats a lot of chuns. now, was that the same for tekken 3 tournaments then? Just asking...

I watched that Remy video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uf-1ofJQgM and is it that you break up your 2 seconds of charge time into chunks of charging, while you can do other moves, or even walking forwards, then go back to back, forward+kick? Is that how?
