Avoiding the Puddle Episode #13 featuring Tomhilfiger

We're back again and this time we interview the legendary Tekken 4 Nina, Tomhilfiger. Tom gives a history lesson on how competitive Tekken started in America and how it changed after the Koreans began attending American tournaments. He also gives his "old man's" perspective of how Tekken has evolved over the years plus much more.

Before that, MYK and I discuss the latest TTT2 trailer as well as talk about the announcement of the new Soul Calibur game. As always, feel free to leave questions or suggestions in the comments section or contact me at Aris@avoidingthepuddle.com.

Aris I too was once a Soul Calibur fan, actually ever since Soul Calibur 1 came on the scene. I was a Tekken 2 arcade player then my local arcade received the original Soul Edge which I liked, but when the first Soul Calibur was released they implemented the 8 way run and IMO that created freedom in 3D fighting to create your own fighting style similar to how the side step in Tekken 3 made it into a free style form of fighting in 3D. The major problem with Soul Calibur as a series is that after Calibur 2 they restricted the movement of the characters and started implemented tons of guaranteed combos making the games no longer free style and boring. I hope they actually go back to the roots of SC1 and SC2 and reinvigorate the type of gameplay that made Soul Calibur popular GOOD MOVEMENT not the stand and spam mixups of the new games.
