Maybe Harada has been playing too much Super mario world 3D. Cunty mcCunt, the stage is all yours. Take your cue.

Just watched the anniversary tournament. Notice how Lili has become the face of Tekken? It's a Lili cosplay model next to "Sato" Claus. (Harada) I don't speak Japanese but Lili has a microphone and is seriously commenting on the tournament.

Which is ok, Tekken is not just for guys, but the only character-mascotte is Lili out of all characters and after 20 years of this game. Welcome to Tekken's new identitty. (and thanks for subtitles and international commentators Namco)

This whole 20 years anniversary "event" was very very lacklustre. The atmosphere was like a X-mas quiz night in a backstreet pub. It was all Japanese spoken, good way to include the international community and share the hype.
I'm sure people will remember this one for a many years to come. Great way to celebrate 20 years and thank the loyal fans.

Nice one Namco.

These new characters are absolutely awful. Tekken's character design was really magnificient for me, this is huge part why I loved the game. What the fuck are they doing now? Really.

I hate the design, but I'm old and this character is not made for me. I'm more interested in what the younger generation thinks. The guys that watch the cartoons, have streams with pictures of cartoon girls and listen to this awful asian music all day. They are all over the internet. I assume namco did their research, and maybe this is what it takes to bring in those people. If it helps grow Tekken then I'm all for it. There are still 30+ other characters I can pick.

I'm seeing a lot of elitist attitudes going on here, and it's downright sad. You water faucets are one of the reasons the Tekken community doesn't thrive like the Street Fighter community. Seriously, bitching and crying waterfalls of tears over a character you don't like.. beyond pathetic. Believe it or not, there are people out there that like this kind of character. People with different tastes than you.. Oh, the horror! They must be sub-humans, right? There's your elitist problem right there.

You babies should be ashamed of yourselves if you are anywhere near being a fan of Tekken.

Please go to a fucking desert region devoid of water so the civilians can live off your endless tears.

Even Street Fighter doesn't have trash character designs like this.

Idk I just am not excited at all about this character reveal. Hopefully they will scrap her but I doubt it. The game is not even out in Arcades yet so I won't bitch and complain, let's just wait and see what happens.

LOL I love how there's always a handful of people who'll support whatever gets thrown their way as long as the name "Tekken" is attached to it. Those fools will eat anything out of Harada's hands almost like they don't have a choice to survive. For those of us who knew what the game was and what it's been turning into, we're all on the same page. People who welcome these silly, outrageous character concepts weren't around the original Tekken days when characters were made to reflect their REALISTIC fighting styles like Hwoarang, Bruce and Eddy. They all became interested in the game after Tekken 6 was released, so seeing Alisa, Lars and Bob was ok for them -- they didn't know better. They just accepted it for what it was and didn't question anything.

Developing games is a job and sadly, those original guys who worked on the original games are not still working on those games today. New people get hired to work on the game and the old ones aren't around anymore, so whoever is in charge of character designs has a completely different mindset from the original designers. When I said this new generation sucks, you didn't believe me -- this is proof!!! These younger fools don't know better.

Instead of calling us "elitest", I feel "majority" would be a more fitting term. To cater to the minority (the few people who welcome these new, random-ass out-of-place characters), is just doing a disservice to the people who have helped make the game what it is today. Why only make a few people happy when you could put something out that most people will appreciate? I feel like I'm rambling, but I'll reiterate myself to make my point!

I don't want to get racist and more "elitest" so I'll stop here...

You new gen. kids suck. You guys missed the good ol' days when things were original and not a weak, watered down version of what things used to be.. and I'm not just talking about video games. Music, movies, the quality of food and goods are just to name a few. I almost feel bad for you guys, but what you don't know can't hurt, right?

Have fun!

Hello. I've been a Tekken player since T3.

Yes, I will have fun. Thank you.

Cunty McCunt, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU? The stage is yours. Take it. Keepo

"Katsuhiro Harada · @Harada_TEKKEN
7th Dec 2014
"By the way, Are you "Western" only one bulletin board? Hello small world. I'll make muscular & skinhead character for you. Remember, I said We've more new characters and She is ONE of THEM."

This was tweeted by Harada, owning up on a tool called Reality2k.

Guess sites like ATP and the people who come here (and, the whole american tekken community in general) are just a small handful of people with opinions after all. Last I checked, Tekken was a Japanese game made in Japan. Just a little hint: Their opinions weigh more.. and maybe, perhaps.. differ from yours. It's not rocket science, kiddo.

And there is nothing I find more amusing when people say, " I play Tekken for its REALISM." Kuma and Roger are laughing their asses off in their realistic training facilities in Osaka right now. I do believe both were in Tekken 1.

In closing.. it is most certainly elitist and snobbish if you think a certain something should only be to your liking.. and the opinions of others you do not know do not matter.

Have fun!

Damn. Weird. Holy crap. I bet she plays like a Mishima, haha

Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 7:31 PM | Unregistered CommenterForest

BARF! "A new character slot being taken up by this shit!" Can you just imagine loosing to that B.S.?!

We already have to deal with fun but highly annoying characters like Lili, Xiaoyu, Miharu and now this too. It's over the top already and seems to just be a waste. They should have just put Doctor B. in her place for Pete's sake if we're gonna have to deal with all that silly mess she's doing. Zafina is annoying to play against but at least shes a "cool" character that actually has a believable purpose in the story line.
I'm giving Katarina a pass for the moment simply because Harada said she is for new players and I don't have a issue with that, but this Chloe character shows no new inspiration or new imagination just regurgitated crap, that's just a fact. I can't get hype about something I've already seen done soooo many times over and over again.

@J1N

OK. Now go fetch me proof for Satan, a tall green alien zombie dude turning into a dragon with a giant snake on his arm, an angel, a fighting and talking panda, an ill doctor ramming his head into a robot and sliding on his ass, karate-ka using electricity in their attacks, an insect alien samurai cyborg ninja guy who heals himself by masturbating with a laser sword, a teleporting stealth black guy, a woman covered in purple goo generating arms and shit from the floor, people hitting each other in the pinky toes for massive juggle damage, blue sparks coming out of one's feet, exploding auto-regenerated heads, an old fart surviving an explosion of 5 tons of worth of dynamite while being pinned down by robots and a kid surviving being thrown down a volcano.

^ All proof that the game's been going go sh!t. You just proved my point. Character concepts have been getting more and more ridiculous with every installment. I could have tolerated it til T5, but everything after that has been too much. I understand that it is indeed a fictional video game, so things like supernatural entities (devil and angel genes) and a few monsters (ogres) could slide, and even robots and cyborgs... but ballerina cheerleaders and 400lb fat dudes who are swifter and more agile than martial arts masters is too far fetched by any standards. Fighting animals are not.

To say that this new Katarina chick (who looks like some supermodel who just came from the mall), can beat Feng Wei - a Chinese Kempo master with the strength to break a tree or even a mountain in one blow, is a bit much for me.

I'd love for Tekken to go back to its more realistic roots, but that's like asking for world peace. Everyday things are getting worse and worse... This series is following suit.

It's sad.

First off, I'm writing this line after finishing this... essay testament thing. I'm not angry. I'm just going to talk a lot and try to explain things the best I can. There's a TL;DR section at the bottom if you don't care about the details. I apologise in advance for the wall of text.

The only things I mentioned that haven't appeared before and during the godly T5 were Alisa's exploding head and Unknown's whatever goo magic, but even in TTT she had her wolf spirit thing which was re-used for Z.W.E.I. in Soul Calibur V.

Everything else I mentioned was there before and during T5. Let me go over those things I listed by their descriptions:

Devil Kazuya (T1), Ogre / True Ogre (T3), Angel (T2), Panda (T3), Dr. B (T3) and Jack (T1), all the Mishima, (every Tekken ever), Yoshimitsu (every Tekken ever), Raven (T5), combo system (various), Hwoarang's JFSR (not sure when that was implemented, perhaps T4?), Heihachi (T5) and Kazuya (T1).

Therefore, it does not prove your point at all. All these silly things were already there.

Now, I'm not a bitch. I can understand what you're trying to say and you gave the perfect example right there with Katarina and Feng Wei. I think Tekken is quite realistic, but not for the reasons people say it's not. I don't think Tekken is realistic because of devils and flying spaghetti lolcopter ninja.

The way the game is structured along with the characters styles and animations makes the depiction of their fighting styles realistic.

With Kazuya, you're doing karate. Karate doesn't launch people in the air with electrics, but the main objective is to space yourself out perfectly and set up a situation where you can finish your opponent in one or two blows with perfect execution (that would be the meaning behind the electric) . Whenever you hit, it hurts.

With Steve, you're going to poke around more, dodge and weave, set up a situation where your opponent's face runs into you so you can get that counter hit.

With Lei, you're Jackie Chan. You want to go nuts and confuse the opponent.

I understand the problem you have with Bob, Lili, Chloe, Katarina and the like. It's not fighting. They're flipping around like crazy and doing strings, they're not doing anything with substance fit for a martial art. In T5, even though it had pretty goofy things, you could look at the cast and go "Ok, I gotta watch out for these guys". Then we get to where we are, where Tekken goes the fantasy route and inspires fighting styles from... J-Pop stars? Also, Katarina's not doing any Krav Naga or Maga or whatchamacallit. That's jumping and kicking. She should be called the Jump n' Kick girl. There's no way a scrubby brawler like her would stand the slightest chance against Feng.

I'm disappointed that we didn't get an entirely serious roster, given that Harada wanted to make this the final dramatic chapter of the Mishima. Even goof ass Xiaoyu had a depressing ending in T4, now that I remember. It is possible to put Dark Souls' atmosphere in Tekken... but the other side of the coin is that we gotta bring new people and having an obscure, technical game can prove to be a barrier to that. Tekken almost didn't make it to last year's Evo.

If the current Tekken guys can't give people hype, let's captivate other people with cat girls and Brazilian models to come over and be enthusiastic about it, at least. Actually, many of the current Tekken guys are boycotting Tekken.

I don't think it would be too hard to request a really serious game , character concept-wise if all the competitive players or at least the most notorious made a poll or something, reached a consensus and then made an official professional video to Harada and Namco, politely requesting the darkest, most dramatic Tekken ever.

If I remember correctly, Street Fighter became all childish and goofy in 4 and now in 5 it's starting to get more realistic looking and serious again. Perhaps Tekken is following the same steps. Gather a bunch of new people, hook them from the beginning with simplified gameplay and idiotic characters and then build it up from there. Or not.

What you say is understandable, but I'd like people to stop being such bitches the way they say things. It's like they're more interested in spreading malice than fixing things.

TL;DR - I understand that you don't like the current state of Tekken's mood. Neither do I, to an extent, but there are still many likable characters in the roster so you should ignore these ones that you don't like and beat them up, since it's a fighting game.
